Stop Stealing Other's Dreams

Stop Stealing Dreams!

The other day while getting a cup of Joe at Starbucks I heard a young child tell his dad he wanted to own a hundred Starbucks. I was so proud and excited for that kid. Here I saw a child wanting to own a business, the American dream! His dad told him it was impossible to own a 100 Starbucks and he should just manage one someday. I nearly dropped my Chai Tea right out of my hand as my heart broke because his dream was stolen.

On my drive back home and after cooling off, I wondered how often people’s dreams are stolen and ripped away because of others. How many dreams have I stolen from others by saying: “good luck” “there’s no way you can do that” “it’s impossible”. The buck stops here: no more dream stealing! Now more than ever, we need to lift up others dreams and help guide them along the way. If you want to own a 100 Starbucks, 100 hotels, or be an astronaut, do what Nike says, “Just Do It”!

"People will not bear it when advice is violently given, even if it is well founded. Hearts are flowers; they remain open to the softly falling dew, but shut up in the violent downpour of rain."
-- John Paul Richter

Listen: if someone says you can’t, laugh it off. Use their cynicism as fuel to ignite your fire and passion for whatever dream you’re going to make reality. Look back at Michael Jordan, some punk coach told him he wasn’t good enough for his high school’s basketball team. MJ used that negativity to fuel his fire and become the greatest basketball player ever.

Be a dream catcher, not a dream stealer!
